is there anyway to change how many posts are displayed per page? just so i (we!) dont have to wade through pages etc? i think most of the other forums i use give the facility to change in user cp - like up to 40 per page, but i couldnt find it??

Edit - poll added, i know it makes the page a bit slower but in these days of broadband etc its nice to have the option

With this board software, that's an administrative setting, and it's currently set to ten posts per page (the default on this and thousands of other boards).

Start a poll! If everyone wants that setting changed, I'll be more than happy to do it.

The software doesn't allow it to be a user setting? I have 1920x1200 resolution which can easily handle "infinite" posts per page (I have Google search results set to 100 and still find that lacking), but those with smaller resolutions or a slower connection might max out at 20 per page.

That is what I voted for, by the way.

EDIT: I also surf with a 13-year-old laptop with an 800x600 resolution; another reason why I didn't just vote for "as many as possible". :thumb:

It doesn't bother me. My current laptop has a 17 inch screen. Even if some forums have a lot of postings, i am quite comfortable with the scroll function.

I voted for 30 per page. Other forums that I visit have more, some are set to less. 30 or 40 seems to be pretty decent number without getting into too many on a page.

Well wasn't the 10 posts per page standard back in the day of dial-up internet? Now that we have broadband as a very common internet connection it wouldn't take anything at all to load another 10-20 posts per page.
