Hi eveyone,

I bought a beautiful 9 years old Ford Escape in January (2.0L 4X4). My boyfriend is regularly visiting this website and he learnt a lot from your comments and advices.
Unfortunately we are experiencing a problem lately. The car has been behaving really well however in the past two months we noticed that when accelerating the RPM suddenly increases but parallel to this the car does not speed and it feels that the powertrain is delayed.

I would appreciate if you could help me with any ideas.

Thanks
Timea

The only thing that comes to mind would be a slipping clutch.
I'm sure others will chime in sooner or later.

Beautiful picture, by the way.

Same thing comes to my mind too...and yes the picture is Escape-perfect.
With the hand-brake on start the car. While keeping the hand-brake on put it in 4th gear. While the hand-brake is still engaged let the clutch off.If the engine DOES NOT stall immediately the clutch needs replacement.

Does the clutch feel any different from; lets say a year ago or at least before this issue surfaced?
