I alluded to this plan in another post, so I thought I'd do a copy and paste that details it a bit more. It apparently does cover brake pads, belts, hoses, shocks, etc.

ESP Scheduled Premium Maintenance Plans

Scheduled maintenance gives you genuine peace of mind from Ford. When you purchase a quality vehicle you want your ownership experience to be satisfying, pleasurable and as worry-free as possible-and so do we! That's why we created the Ford ESP Premium Maintenance Plan. This plan will give you the convenience of pre-paid service while protecting you against the rising cost of future maintenance service.

CONFIDENCE FOR THE ROAD
- Covers normal scheduled maintenance as indicated in your Owner's Scheduled Maintenance Guide, including engine oil and filter changes, multi-point inspections and tire rotations.
- Normal scheduled maintenance provides maintenance services every 5,000 miles or 6 months for 2007 and prior model year vehicles with gasoline engines (except 3.5L gasoline engines); every 7,500 miles or 6 months for 3.5L gasoline engines, all 2008 model year vehicles with gasoline engines and 6.0L diesel engine vehicles; every 10,000 miles or 12 months for 6.4L diesel vehicles and hybrid vehicles.
- All maintenance replacements use original equipment (OEM) parts.
- Premium maintenance plan covers the following items if they fail due to normal wear: spark plugs (except in CA), shock absorbers, clutch disc, engine belts and hoses, brake pads and linings, wiper blades.
- Provides protection against the rising cost of maintenance service and six normal wear items.
Coverage begins at the warranty start date and zero miles. You can only purchase the Premium Maintenance Plan before your vehicle reaches 12 months or 12,000 miles from the warranty start date and zero miles.
- Coverage expires upon reaching the selected time, mileage or completion of all the maintenance services, whichever occurs first.

A VARIETY OF AVAILABLE PLAN TERMS
Plan terms are available for 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 years and up to a maximum of 100,000 miles. Available for most new vehicles within 12 months and 12,000 miles of warranty start date.

Genx:
The excerpt that you posted dealt with restrictions on "ESP Premiumcare". My excerpt dealt strictly with a prepaid Maintenance Plan (it isn't a warranty extension). In any event I'll post what I learn from the dealer & also from "fordwarrantys.com".

I bought a service plan for our Tribute. It was actually less per month than taking the SUV to a oil change place and paying them all at once when I visited their shop. Plus the Mazda dealer shop washes the machine inside and out while it's there for service. No charge.

All these plans are a GAMBLE I did have one on my Windstar and just before the 100,000 mile point the shop foreman called and had me take in . They did about 2,500 worth of work under the warrenty. I however have chosen not to get one on the Scape
