question JP

Although I am no longer in sales where I work, I do occasionally help out a customer to find a specific vehicle they are looking for.

I recently stepped in to help out some guy looking for a loaded Ford Edge. We have six or seven of them in stock. They are all SEL models, but not limiteds.

We have one that would have been absolutely perfect for this guy until we realized it has leather seats but they are not heated (unheated leather seats never made a whole lot of sense to me). The car has basically everything else (NAV/Vista moon-roof/22" wheels/etc etc etc etc) & it is black which is the color he wants but he won't buy it without heated seats (I don't blame him).

When we looked at the Edge inventory, it surprised me to realize that not one of the ones we have in stock has heated seats even though they all have leather interior & all of them are loaded with options.

I know I can look this up, but I'm sure you probably already know the answer. Do you have to buy a Limited Edge to get the heat option???

John I don't want to speak for jp but just happened to be at edmunds.com and look that up for you. It is option 65l on the SEL

65L Premium Package
Includes dual electronic climate control, exterior puddle lamps, heated seats and exterior mirrors, leather-trimmed front and rear seats, memory seats and exterior mirrors, particulate air filter and universal garage door opener.

A 1675.00 option.

Thanks for the info, but this car already has about half that option package it seems (so the heated seats must be available as an individual option also).

This car has full leather interior (not leather trimmed), memory seats & Home-link (which I assume is the "universal garage door opener").

I'm not sure whether it has the "dual electronic climate control" although he doesn't even really want that option (he's like me I guess, I don't particularly like that option either & my Wife's car has it)

Sorry I missed this! I've been on conference calls all morning, and I have another one in a few minutes!

:cuss:

Mine is a 2007, and in 2007, the "SEL Plus" was the same as the 2008 "Limited". Both of them have the Premium Package as standard equipment, and that includes automatic climate control and heated seats.

But the 2007 and 2008 SEL models have the Premium package as an option, and leather is available separately, without automatic climate control and heated seats. I can see why, too. The heated seat buttons are part of the automatic climate control module. And the module in mine is missing the extra buttons that control the heated AND cooled seats that are optional on the MKX.

Our Fusion is the same way, except the model designations are different. The SEL is the top-of-the-line, and the SE is the next one. We have the Sport Appearance Package, and leather as a separate option, but the leather isn't heated.

It will be when I'm done adding the factory parts.

And let's not forget that Ford changes it's option packages on a weekly basis.
It's only bi-weekly now.
