Quick question... Has anyone tried to haul a stove?

My sister just called. She saw a stove on clearance at Costco that she wants, and wants me to help me get to to her house. My pickup truck is full because I just loaded it up with furniture yesterday. We have a 1 ton van, but I really don't want to drive the 1 ton 80 miles to this store getting all of 10-12 MPG. I'm thinking that with the back seat folded down, a standard 30" range probably will fit in the back of an 08-12 Escape. Has anyone tried?

Thanks!

I think you'll be fine if you take the stove out of the packaging. Typical dimensions of a standard stove are 30" wide, ±39" tall (36" tall to the stove top + around 5" for the back display panel and ±25-26" deep.

Not sure how the battery affects the cargo area in the Hybrid though. I would bring a lot of blankets, some pillows and some bungies to keep it from sliding and banging around.

Well done. You can increase the cargo volume by removing the rear seat bottom cushions. They're designed to be removable. And then in a pinch you can put the front seatbacks more upright and even slide them forward.

I think the hybrid's cargo area is the same except it does not have the storage bin under the floor.
