So I have been slowly doing all the scheduled maintenance since I have no idea what was done to my 06 XLT 4wd. I came across an odd statement at work, the estimator says to use 80w90 gear oil unless you see temps below 40 degrees F for long periods and being in MN I would think I qulify for that! So has anybody else heard of this or done it? Any noticeable benefits to it?

yep 80w-90 is what you should use, and if you go synthetic even better for colder climate as well, pretty well and type of gear case will use that same weight, Dino
