Rear Differential oil leak covered by Powertrain warranty?

Where is the leak?
Front side of the diff where the propshaft enters? That would be the pinion seal
Rear side of the diff? That would be the cover plate
If it's leaking out one of the sides... I'm not sure what the term is for those seals - The Escape is my first vehicle without a solid rear axle.
Oil leaks are typically covered under most warranty work.
