I recently purchased a 2005 Ford Escape Limited V6 4x4 and its by far the nicest vehicle I have ever owned. It has what the dealer said is an aftermarket rearview mirror that shows the compass direction and outside temp. the compass works, not sure if the autodim works, but the temp shows OC, which im guesing means open circut. I tried to add a pic to show what kind of mirror i have but couldnt figure that out. the mirror has 2 buttons on the front, the left one says comp and the right says temp, there is a green light to the right of the temp button and the back of the mirror has a 7-pin plug with 3 wires connected to it. does anyone know what i need to do to get this working properly? the dealer said there is no wire for the temp, does mean there is no temp probe? if so, can i buy just the probe and wire? can send pic if needed.

thanks in advance.

It is a Donnelly. The auto dim should work. The only feature I lost on my Limitied model was the automatic headlights as the trigger on the Donnelly mirror is opposite of the car. (Neg/ pos or pos/ neg, can't remember anymore) If they were both neg or both pos trigger then the auto headlights would work but oh well, no biggie.
I think you're mirror may be in compass calibration mode. This is highly likely since you just bought the car I'm assuming the dealer had disconnected the battery sometime before you bought it for servicing, any disconnect period of considerable length could throw it into recalibrate mode.
Try holding in on your compass button to see if it starts to flash the display. If so then take the car somewhere and back in a complete circle, which usually requires a parking lot to have room. It will automatically get it's bearings & set up the compass all on it's own.
I cannot remember what my display said when I first powered up but I believe it was "OC" cannot remember what the "O" meant but the "C" stood for calibration. Perhaps "Open calibration"?
Hope this works for you, good luck. :)
