its only 80 watts, 4ohm 8inch and 10 inch will not fit in stock sub box. the factory amp will not be enough to power that. I have an 8in kicker cvr 4 ohm 400 what max handle and the stock amp doesnt even make it move let alone give you any bass, unless you place on throwing a in a hi/low cross over and a new amp in, id stick with the stock sub. IMO save yourself some money until you can invest in the whole package.

I have everything i need to finish my install, just havent had the time
the COMPVR is rated at 200rms and the COMP is rated at 100rms maybe thats why your set up dint work. how did you wire the sub? 8,4 or 2ohm? do you know the wattage and inpedance of the speakers? if changing the sub wont work then im just going to change the speaker and hope it make a difference. my goals is to get just some better sound for cheap not blow out the windows. and can some one tell me where all 7 speakers are? 2 front door 2 rear 1 sub 1 tweeter above the sub? and 1???
i got a 2012 escape limited. it says it has 7 speaker but only see 5. going to replace the sub with a 8" Comp C84. if it doesnt improve any thing it wont be a big lost got it for $30. ill replace the speaker in the next 2 months with some kicker DS68 ic an get the front and back pairs for about $60. so if for less than $100 total i can get better sound with out any visible modification it will be worth it. post in about a week the results of the new sub.

The 7 speakers are:

2 in each front door (separate midrange and tweeter in a 6x8 package)
1 in each back door (full-range OEM paper speaker)
1 sub in the trunk

They stopped putting the tweeters in the sail panels in 2008 I believe. Unfortunate, since that location provides much better directionality to the sound. AFAIK no one makes a sail panel for the 2008-2012 Escapes that has mounting provisions for a tweeter.
So replacing the speakers is a must then especially the back one.. thanks

Just opened up the stock sub and the This quote has it wrong it is not a "4ohm sub" it is an 8" sub and it is a dual voice coil with each coil at 1ohm. im guessing they might run it in series and make it a 2ohm sub inside the amp but dobtfull. so now i have to oder a new sub with with dual voice coil or figure out how to make my compatible with the built in amp. plus it doesnt sit flush. but it looks like im just going to return the sub and upgrade all 4 speakers instead. ill put some pics up off the sub and the location of it with the stock amp when i get a chance.
