Hello i am new here i own a 2008 ford escape, xlt 3.0 v6. When i got the car it was running fine just recently i have a loud start and high rpms. The noise is coming from the engine bay and gets louder when im driving and accelerating i also have high mpg because of it now. I thought it was the exaust manifold but i kept searching and now im reading it could be something else any help will be greatly appreciated.

Check your intake manifold for vacuum lines that may have popped off. If you got a backfire into the intake, it can cause enough pressure to unseat vacuum lines. It can actually cause enough pressure to damage the intake manifold.
I would look closely at all the under-hood parts, checking for things that are out of place or flopping in the breeze.

I'm not familiar w the 2008, but on a 1st generation V6 a failed IAC can cause a loud noise, sometimes described as the sound of a jet engine. The IAC on the 1st gen is easy to replace. not sure about an 08. If this is the problem, get a genuine Ford part. Aftermarket from the auto parts store can be bad straight out of the box.

A couple of easy ones to check: Has the intake air filter been changed recently? I once had the intake air filter box badly reclosed by the dealer mechs who wanted to do it in a record time. The bottom part of it was not positioned properly, it is easy to miss given the crowdy area, at least in mine. There was a noise when the engine was accelerating i.e. when the throttle was more open, letting engine noise go back through the bellow conduit to the filter box. Later on, I've also had that bellow conduit, between the throttle and the filter box, cracked open, with a similar sound upon acceleration.
