I got the right SAP headlight yesterday. Left is on the way! Hopefully it wont be too much of an issue installing with the bull bar I have on.

Here's a pic:

If you find out how to remove the front bumper, let me know. Turns out the front bumper's gotta go to get access to the horn. I tried going through the wheel well and ... well, to say the least, it's not where I thought it would be. I mean, it's under the driver-side headlight, but...

1) I couldn't find my flash light.
2) it sounds like it's right next to the fog light.

While you have them out (not yet installed) put in some new bulbs into the housings. I broke another pair of Putcos trying to put them in while installed. &*^%$ tight tolerance crap.

Oh and super upgrade. Love the SAP light assembly.

i think it would be very easy to modify normal headlamp to sap one...
it seems only that they have a black painted area around the projector.

once shell separated from the lense itself, just painting the same area with matte black paint would make them appear as s.a.p. headlight....

I already have the silverstars installed on the headlights I have now, so I will just tell the service tech to make sure those get in the new headlight assembly!

Thanks, I can't wait till they install them, probably this weekend. Will snap pics.

So you are saying the outward facing clear glass is the same on the standard and SAP light?

Quick Update on the headlights...

I was going to go have them installed this past Saturday, but I decided to sleep in after a late night

I noticed that one of the headlights had a broken piece. Luckily the piece was in the box and I was able to tape it back on with some electric tape after crazy glue failed to do the job. Hopefully the tape job will be okay, but I don't think the piece is too important to installation..

I might wait till the spring to have them installed, as I may want to get a couple of quotes from other dealers (the one I go to gave me a quote of 197 plus tax for the hr and half of labor, bit high I thought?)

I am still keeping my eye out for the 17" wheels on ebay, as I really want those!

To be continued!

How do you know it's not essential?

Was it the eBay light?

So I did some calculations while staring at some Edge tires and here's what I can let you know:

Pretend the 16" tire is the default. 235/70R16

Escape 17": 225/65R17 is actually 1.5 inches shorter in total, 5% shorter circumference
Wheel is 17x7

245/60R18 (Edge's 18) registers 2% larger circumference.
wheel is 18x8

255/55R18 registers 0.3127% larger circumference (with BMW X5 tire)

255/60R17 registers 0.3263% larger circumference.

255/50R19 registers 0.299% larger cirumference

In case you wanted to go with a different tire size.

Well I hope the piece isn't essential, however I attached it back on :thumb:

Thanks for the wheel info, but I'm set on getting the 17" SAP Wheels, they look damn good.

Now I just need to find a set of four!

I'll keep an eye out on the eBay front for ya. All I can see are the chrome ones. I'll try CL locally too.

They are all the same, the difference is that for SAP lights the housing is black(from the factory)and the other ones are chrome. If you want to get the same look you need to open the headlight and paint the housing. I did that to my lights.
