Side mirrors on a 2010

Ive seen some of the 2010 side mirrors that have a built in spot mirror. Would these fit on an 2008? Can I just change out the glass and not need the whole mirror?

I will check mine but I think you will have to change the whole mirror as it is built in.
You're in luck. And welcome to E-C!

First, here's how to remove the glass:

viewtopic.php?f=28&t=5099&p=90115#p90115

Second, here are the part numbers for the glass (both with and without the blind-spot feature):

8L8Z-17K707-A - 2008+ right mirror glass, no blind spot, no heat ($21.15)
8L8Z-17K707-B - 2008+ right mirror glass, no blind spot, heated ($27.41)
8L8Z-17K707-C - 2008+ left mirror glass, no blind spot, no heat ($17.34)
8L8Z-17K707-D - 2008+ left mirror glass, no blind spot, heated ($23.46)

AL8Z-17K707-A - 2008+ right mirror glass, blind spot, no heat ($65.39)
AL8Z-17K707-B - 2008+ right mirror glass, blind spot, heated ($68.41)
AL8Z-17K707-D - 2008+ left mirror glass, blind spot, no heat ($58.40)
AL8Z-17K707-E - 2008+ left mirror glass, blind spot, heated ($62.43)

Those prices are from Titus-Will Ford (http://www.tituswillfordparts.com).

Obviously, the new parts are a (cough) little pricey, but if you need them or want to try to swap them, there they are.

Me? I may add the puddle lamps from the Fusion to my 2010 Limited after it arrives.

Thanks a bunch for the help, thats a great site for parts, now I must restrain myself from ordering too much. :taz:

I wonder why the right side no heat is almost 3 times the cost of the left side no heat.

I think I will order the left and see how it works out and if it goes well I won't mind the cost of the right side so much.

Thanks again for the help and instructions. :kneel:

You're welcome!

Oh, and since the parts are so new, the price difference may be entirely based on demand and competition for supply from the factory.

Please post pics if you try to change one!
Ordered the left side mirror glass a few minutes ago. I will get it sometime in the next week or two. I will take pictures as I go and post the results.

How hard would that be to add to an XLT?
I don't know yet, because I haven't seen the inside of the Escape's mirrors, but they sure look large enough.

The Fusion uses 194-sized bulbs (actually W5W), and the rounded-rectangular lamp housing snaps into an opening under the mirror. The housing uses a simple 4-prong socket that's part of the mirror assembly.

Most other Fords (such as my Edge and the F-150) use a larger, round, permanently-sealed lamp housing with a dual-ended festoon bulb inside. If the bulb burns out, the entire assembly needs to be replaced. But there are lots of forums that discuss cutting the housing open and replacing the bulb with LEDs.

I'll have more on that after my Escape arrives.
Pretty sure my Escape doesn't have puddle lamps though, so I'm curious whether it's something new or not. Or you'll carve holes in the bottom of your mirrors. :D
No North American E/M/Ts have ever had factory puddle lamps.

The mirror connector on each side has one blank slot. And I have the exact pins for both sides of that connector, as well as the connectors for each door.
I'm curious to see how this will work.
Me too. Stick around...
Well, I received the mirror glass today! :woohoo:

But, there is one itty bitty problem. A picture is worth a thousand words. Follow the link and see if you can tell what the text in the mirror says.

I am not an expert but best I can tell it is Arabic for, "things may appear closer than they are"
:hyst:

Where did you order this from!!?!?

I ordered it from Titus-Will. I am guessing it was a packaging error. I can't imagine there being a big demand for mirror glass with arabic text here in the USA.
I am impressed. What did they say when you wrote back to them?
