Ive been lookin around on ebay gor random parts for my escape and about every five theres a chip for 30 bucks promising at least 100 hp and 30 mph. just wnated to see if any one tried one or was planning on it beacuse for the low price and the statements about it it seems like it would work, i doubt about as much as it says but even a little would be nice

Not something to hang my hat on. I don't beleive it. I also don't beleive that an air filter allows your engine to develope more horsepower than what the computers MAP allows. Everything is pretty well regulated, and dyno results rule the proof.

He specifically advises , that the factory chip should not be tampered with.

Many have used the X-Cal3 to improve performance not only in the engine but to fix the sluggish shifting and shift points in the tranny. They come with three different maps that allow you to select either a "improved gas mileage", "towing" or "performance" tune. All require specific fuel octane levels of course.
I have one and while I didn't expect the world, performance wise, I was happy with the improvement and very happy with the transmission results.
