I got my R/C monster truck ready for winter and decided to have a little fun in the parking lot at my work. lay: The "action" shots I had to take while holding my phone in one hand and trying to drive the car with the other, which was a wee bit difficult. I know there are others here with R/C vehicles, so you can winterize your little ride by wrapping up your servos and other electronics and batteries in balloons or, if space is tight, plastic wrap.

The subject of today's photo shoot is an HPI Savage X SS.

With the body off. The big purple thing on the right side of the picture is the heatsink for the engine.



Now I just need some real snow around here! :calvin:

I am a big RC guy and I really dislike driving it in the snow because I just hate cleaning it afterward! But it is fun as hell. Mine is a Revo. I got about $3,000 into this thing and love it. I must love blue because I got a blue body for it and painted it up last year. Then bought the Sport Blue Metallic Escape. They look pretty close. Now I gotta find an Escape body to fit it...

Wow, nice Revo! I've never driven one, but they look awesome. That, and I almost everything I've read about them has been positive. Yours is just sooo clean; you need to go dirty it up a little! :taz:

For my Savage, driving it in the snow is like giving it a bath. I swear it's cleaner now than it was before!

Aren't the DARE truck tires directional? The two front tires are on two different directions...

Yeah, they light up. Took me forever to find something that would stand up to the abuse of flipping over on it's lid. That's actually two transparent cigarette lighters with the tops cut off and glued together. Add in an led flasher kit and boom! I'll see if I can dig up a vid of it working. And yes, I was hoping no one would notice that I had the wheels on wrong when I took that picture.

I took the pictures when I cleaned and stored it for the winter. It is up on blocks now. Well on a stand anyway.

The lights look great on that Savage.

Those gas-powered RC cars go pretty fast, don't they? I would love to see the DARE truck try to pull someone over.

Puts out over 6 HP at 8000 rpm.

Dude, where did you get those bodies? I've been comtemplating using the Barbie truck body but I haven't checked it's scale. My Savage is 1/8th.

I got the body at a local dollar shop about 5 years ago. I still have 4 or 5 of them in the boxes just waiting to be cut up. I had to do all sorts of Dremel work and standoff fabrication to get the body to fit the chassis. Mine is the Green one. The other 3 belong to someone else. My chassis is an E-maxx. I think it's 1/10th scale. That works best for this body. I also purchased a T-maxx with hopes of converting it to a BarbFoot but there were a bunch of issues with the tailpipe that I didn't have time to deal with...

I've thought about finding that body for my Savage, too, but am also not sure if it'll fit. Any chance you could give us some dimensions of the Escape body?
