Went and go an estimate today. A buddy of mine has a friend in the business. The estimate for a normal consumer was $917...he will do it for me for $656. Not too shabby of a deal but I am gonna get some estimates down in my hometown too to see what they can do. :('

Seems a bit extreme does that  , how long did he quote for the downtime?
I would try to fix it myself at that price, if the paint on the bumper hasn't cracked, it should just pop back out with gentle persuasion, and a little heat. ;)

Man sorry to hear that, I like to park my Escape far away from every other cars when possible, I am a young guy can so don't mind the walking.

It happen to my brother, when he was coming out of a restaurant at night his car had a long scrape on the car door. Felt so sorry for him because his car was in good condition. That is why I try my best to avoid in a tight parking spot.

The dent actually popped out by itself today while I was at work. Probably the sun beating on it today. You can see the scuff mark and there is another defect in the bumper. The biggest damage is the fender....he said as soon as you pull the fender back out it will crack the paint and the whole fender needs to be repainted.

That sounds pretty reasonable if he does good work.

Sorry to hear that happened Scott. Like John said, not too bad a price if they do decent work.

Luckily I've never had to deal with anything like that but, late last year, one of the girls at my office had her 5 month old VW GTI door hit in a parking lot. Cops basically said there was nothing they could do without a witness. Estimates ranged from a few hundred dollars to pull out the dent to almost $1500 to repair and repaint. Two weeks later and while she was deciding what to do there was a major wind storm around our office. The wind blew a neighbors carport tent over a fence and onto her car. It scratched and dented just about every panel on the car and broke the moonroof. Luckily the neighbor was cool had house insurance that paid for all of that damage. The door damage was paid for by her insurance (minus the deductible). She decided to go back to the dealer to fix it because the car is leased and they have a good but expensive shop. The overall cost was over $5500 and it took over 3 weeks to fix because the moonroof was a special order part...

At a car dealer I used to work at, we once took in a MINT 1963 Chevy Impala in trade (an 85 year old lady traded it in) & a coworker of mine bought it immediately.

The only thing was he wanted it to be black, so he paid a small fortune to have a custom painter do an awesome black paint job on it (it looked like a black mirror)

One week later, he heard a tremendous crash from the garage when he was in the house. He went out to find that a gallon can of yellow paint had fallen off the shelf above the car & fallen right in the middle of the hood. It mad a huge dent in the hood & spilled paint all over the car.

He took it back to the painter & had all the damage fixed good as new again. Probably two weeks after he got it back, a drunk with no insurance ran a stop sign & t-boned him completely totally the car..............

I feel your pain, as look at the damage done to my Maverick a few weeks back by our next door neighbours 25 year old :censor: yob (sorry, son) :cuss:  , after he bricked my car when he was yet again high on heroin, not content with mine, he attacked several other cars on our street, it took 6 police officers to arrest him :BB2 :BB2 :/:/ :stop: :spank: :BB2
I have 10 years no claims on my insurance, so I'll fill / respray it myself when the weather gets a bit warmer :cuss:
I think I'd be having words with that yob's parents. make them cough up the money for repairs. If they're not responsive, maybe 'somebody' could throw some brake fluid over their car one evening or something. ():)

Did you get to press charges? You might get some money back through the courts.

Thanks, BigChris, "it's" mother is an ex-prostitute, father unkown, so no luck in pursuing that avenue :censor: :cuss: :bang:
The police charged "it" with criminal damage, but the court fined "it" £20.00, which, because "it's" on benefits, he pays £0.20 per month.

Time to move methinks! :)
Thats the main reason why I got the house in Scotland,( other than the cheap house prices up there!) to get away from all the inner - city trouble we have in Leeds.
Would live up there permanently but for the following reasons...
Very few jobs up there..
No internet access...
Its a 120 mile round trip to the supermarket :shock2: , and McDonalds!!! ( the wife, you understand ;) !!)
crikey, we don't even receive normal television reception, so have to make do with Sky TV :bang:
Not all bad though, last year we got mains electricity :yahoo: , and mobile phone reception

Well I took my truck into the body shop today. And for a rental they gave me an Expedition...I got from the smallest SUV Ford makes to one of the largest lol. Anyways Geico has been really great with this. They said it will take about 3 days to get done. All I have to pay is my $500 deductible and they will take care of the rest. They even asked me if there is anything else wrong with my car. I told her about a scuff on the rear driver side door that looks like someone rubbed up against me...she said they will take care of that too!! I was shocked! :yahoo: So far this has been a good experience other than me having to pay $500 :(

Finally, some good news for you! (Except for the $500 part...)
