Hey all,

I'm trying to source, cross reference, or find a replacement part for the passenger intermediate shaft on the early manual transmission vehicles.

Crossing the creek every day took it's toll on the little Escape in the family, suddenly the intermediate shaft has just flat decided to not stay in with the threads getting eaten up. We tried to patch it with a through bolt but there's too much torque at that point for what we can patch.

We don't want to just give up on the little guy, but as far as I can see there is no new parts left, everything is listed as no longer available/ not being produced and any junkyard I've contacted moves so quickly with these that whatever we find is bad or scrapped already.

Does anyone know if there's another part from a newer car or a sister vehicle that would fit that hole?

The Ford number I've found is YL8Z3A329AA, I'm willing to pull measurements and pictures if someone has a newer version to compare to, but without blindly buying parts it's been an uphill battle.

Thanks for your time

I searched car dash part dot com(web site) for "2004 Ford Escape Front Axle Shaft "

There were several options regarding ABS or not. There were about 15 options about the section of the drive axle desired. I selected 'RH jack shaft 4cyl 121cid manual trans.... radio buttons...
I don't know where you are, but in the SE of USA, there were 2 pages of results.

Maybe you are searching for a different part. I think full assemblies were available, but did not dig deeper.
