My 01 Tribute V6 just started doing this today. Once I am up to cruising speed, 70-80km/h the truck starts to sputter sporadically. It doesnt do it non stop, just does it every couple seconds kinds thing. Any ideas? It doesnt throw any codes, and I even drove it around with DTC mode on so I could hope to see the code when it came on, but nothing. Starts fine, idles fine, accelerates fine.

Fuel injectors, or maybe the fuel filter? At high speed, those things kick out fuel like an angry horse, and if it's only a high-speed thing, then it would have to be something directly related to engine speed/combustion. Vague, and I'm only an amateur, but that's how my logic is serving me today.

I presume that happens around 1600-2000revs.In that range of revs the EGR valve works a little erratically closing and opening more often than at lower or higher revs.
That is assuming this 2001 vehicle is serviced and taken care properly.
Fuel delivery check and air intake, as Tang mentioned would be the next things to check.
As for the codes, there are times that they take a while before showing up.Good luck and please keep us posted with your progress.

Yes it is around 1600-2k rpm. Truck is well serviced and looked after.
So are you saying it could be the EGR Valve? I am going to drop it off at Mazda or my local mechanic this week. See if they can find something. I know the one O2 Sensor needs replacing. Bank 2 Sensor 2 light comes on sometimes and then goes off other times. That has only started happening since my mom had the exhaust changed up front before she gave me the truck.

But as far as I know the O2 sensor doesn't cause sputtering does it? Just causes the 350km a tank I am gettign right now lol.

Yes, a faulty O2 sensor can cause sputterring, especially in that revs range. The signal from it goes to the Power Control Module which among other functions it also sends a signal to the EGR valve sensor.
An additional thought.A minuscule vacuum leak can also result into your symptoms.
