So now that the escape is snowed into the garage, I'm driving the Expedition. I noticed a squeek to the left, rear? sometimes. I finally figured out it's the driver seatbelt retractor.

Aside from just tearing into it behind the plastic panel, that I'm sure I'll have to remove 90 other things to get to it, any safety issues to be concerend with? It rolls fine, I haven't tried to 'lock' it yet either with quick pull or w/brakes.
A bit annoying, but want to make sure we're safe.

For a luxury SUV the Expedition seems to have seat belts that were put in as an after thougt.
My father inlaw drives one and the belts have never been all that great. To make it even more annoying the buttons on the belt that keep the latch from sliding down have both come off and I'm forever fishing for that thing.
Glad the belts in the Escape are in better shape.
