Steering issues

I have a 08 FEH with 45,000 km on it. Several times the steering has gone dead on it. It did it once when driving straight on the highway and once when I was turning right and the escape was going to electric from gas. I have heard of other similar issues but Ford says it is not an issue. Does anyone know of a similar problem and a solution? Any tsb out there? I am taking it back to my Ford store at the end of the month, but they said it is new to them. YIKES!
