I just got my Escape about 3 weeks ago and noticed a very unwelcome behavior. It's a 2009 Escape Limited V6 AWD.

Sometimes, around 35-45 MPH, when I lightly press the accelerator just to increase speed a little or to keep speed going up an incline, NOTHING happens. I start giving it more gas, and still NOTHING HAPPENS. I then proceed to mat the accelerator, and still NOTHING happens for about half a second, and then the transmission shifts into a very low gear, the RPM's shoot up to like 6000 and the car takes off. Of course I only needed a little more speed, not drag racing, so I take my foot off the accelerator, but the motor continues to run for another half a second and continues to accelerate.

WTF???

I got mine in May of this year and experienced the same. How many miles are on it? This is my first drive by wire vehicle and that seemed to compound the issue as there was for the first 550-600 miles both the weird trans issues and longer delay in where I put my foot. If you experience it after those miles, I'd def. take it in. Also note that at 43mph there is a self check for the ABS that seems to vibrate the gas pedal ever so slightly. I think its odd, but don't pay it any mind. Not sure if that helps you at all too...

Congrats on the new purchase. I love mine. What color and options?

It's a new vehicle guys. Take it back to the dealer. See what they say. You have one year from date of purchase, to get those types of things adjusted to your liking.

it's the sterling grey metallic with cammel interior. Limited luxury package and moon+tune. AWD V6.

Other than some minor glitches I'm very happy with it. The throttle weirdness and a rattle in the moonroof are the only annoyances. I was planning to take it in to have them fixed when I go for my 5000 miles service. It's not so annoying that I want to take time out of my day to deal with it. The dealer called and asked how I liked it...i told them about these things, and they said there would be no problem taking care of it when I brought it in for service. I have 3 years 60k miles plus the extended 6 year/100k mile extended warranty so there's no rush.

My dog loves it too. My last car was a 2006 Mustang GT, which the dog wasn't so crazy about. Now I can go camping and have enough room to pack my gear AND the dog.

Of course the the Mustang had a very different kind of fun...so I also bought a 2009 Buell Lightning XB12SCG :)
