I have a 2011 Escape 4 cylinder with less than 300 miles. It has a strange vibration when in drive and I am stopped. It goes away if I put it in neutral, park, or reverse and it goes away as soon as I start moving. I can feel and hear something vibrating and it sounds like it is coming from somewhere in the engine compartment.
Obviously, I am going to take it back to the dealer this week, but would like to know if anyone else has had this problem and fixed it so I can point them in the right direction.
Otherwise, the Escape is great - 100 times better than the Equinox it replaced :thumb:

Welcome to the City! You join a common group of people who have purchased the black-on-black Sport Appearance Package Escape. Not myself though.

I was going to say that the vibration you're experiencing might be a four-cylinder thing, because my dad's previous leased Focus did something similar and the corporate tech department didn't see anything. (My dad's a Dearborn Ford employee.) This only happened when it was freezing cold outside... which is often up here in Minnesota. Otherwise, my family has only had six-cylinder cars (or the occasional eight) so we don't get the same vibration deals.

Does it have a sound... metallic or plastic? How can you sense it... through the pedals or the trim? Or maybe the steering wheel? More information will garner more responses ... and better responses.

And it could even be simple too, like a loose supporting plastic piece inside your engine bay. When I got mine, one of the two ends of the air intake hose (from the front of the car) wasn't attached but it didn't cause anything other than a strange boost in fuel economy (which has since disappeared since I re-attached it 18 months ago).

Obviously take it back to the Ford shop and see if they can replicate it. I'd be in the vehicle when this is done. Sometimes the service tech can not sense what is going on like you. Maybe something serious, maybe not. First year is free on all new car adjustments and parts.
I for one would like to know what they say about that. Our 08 2.3L Tribute is smooth as slik...to me.

I have this same issue with my '05, granted I do have about 88K more miles than you but I've had this issue too, I recently had a shop look at it and they didn't find any issues. I was in the car while I was describing this to them.

Great Forum you have here,
I feel the vibration in the brake pedal and through the seat. It's not huge by any means, more annoying than anything and it can be felt from the passenger seat as well. I checked everything under the hood and everything seemed tight. The funny thing is that when you put it in reverse and drive, the rpm's drop slightly but it can only be felt while in drive It is smooth as silk in reverse with no vibration.

Of course it might just be me. I have never owned a 4 cylinder vehicle, most of my vehicles have been Ford V8 diesel trucks. Maybe this is a normal 4 cylinder thing???????
