VERY cool on the new addition (the baby!)!!! :yahoo:

VERY cool on the new addition (the brace!)!!! :)P

I made an offer on ebay, but if it saves kafai $$$ well I'm all for that! He needs it!

You guys. Convincing me to spend mo' money. :shades:

I drive my '04 for a living on country winding roads. I am hopeful this makes a noticeable improvement! Especially on all these long gravel driveways with a gazillion potholes...And we have one county here where the main roads are gravel. Hope the brace helps in adverse weather as well. :frozen:

As an aside...how do I get my '04 on the bottom of the posts like you big boys do? :kneel:

Then you should have gotten 4WD. The brace will help with flatter turns at higher speeds, but what you describe would be helped with 4WD, just sayin'

hi friends,

Thx for the ebay offer. you should tell me that you are friends of EC. We have special offer for EC friends.

As I read your message, the strut bar not really function on your case. Agree with Madmax, STB it work on speed. I prefer you consider the tyre pressure first, before you purchasing anything.

Thankyou for saving me money!

I was under the impression the bar helps with cornering and body roll by stiffening the body. I thought it would help on these country roads that wind and turn. But if all it is good for is cloverleafs (entrance/exit ramps) and round-a-bouts, then I don't need this piece.

Thanks for your help and congratulations again! :yahoo:

Thanks for the advice. 4x4 isn't what was needed/wanted so didn't get it. I guess this bar only works for occasional driving onto & off highway ramps, not the twisty, winding roads out in the country. My bad for misunderstanding the past 26 pages that I thought indicated otherwise.

If I won't see an advantage or benefit, I can't afford to buy. I am typing this from inside my mobile office now (Escape) so I thought it would make my driving a bit more stable. Not that it isn't stable now. ;)

It will work on twisty roads, paved ones, but gravelly, pot holed, dirt roads are best served with 4WD. Your post seemed to lean toward those.

 Thought I alluded to country, winding, curvy, twisty roads. The driveway part/gravel roads I am obviously not cornering at 60mph. :hyst: But the strengthening of the body/towers seemed like a good idea, especially for those conditions.

I drive 200+ miles a day. You can believe, driveways don't even equate to 2 miles total per day.

Then you'll love the tower brace

I received my strut tower bar over the weekend but was unable to install it on my 2009 Escape Hybrid due to the placement of hard refrigerant lines near the passenger side strut tower. I know from looking at others installation pictures the blue brackets are supposed to be reversed in order for the crossbar to clear the brake fluid reservoir and wiring bundle but the position and spacing of the hard lines on the 09+ hybrids do not allow for that installation. In short, I would not recommend installation on 2nd gen 09'-12' hybrids unless you want or are able to relocate these hard lines.

It is too bad because Kafai does very quality work. The strut tower bar is first quality and I would not hesitate to install it if I could.

I guess you could remove the brace for the maybe one time you'll need to add brake fluid  You're lucky it doesn't interfere with the turn signal fluid reservoir, seems like I'm always adding turn signal fluid and that stuff ain't cheap, unless you buy the "Turn-X" fluid crap that Walmart sells

That is not the issue. The crossbar does not align with the drivers side mounting bracket because of the brake fluid reservoir. Forcing a fit would have induced downward force on the reservoir and the firewall wiring bundle. The concern is that prolonged stress and vibrations would cause problems with the reservoirs connection to the master cylinder and that the crossbar would eventually wear through the insulation on the wiring bundle leading to electrical problems.

The intent of the post was to provide this forum, and other Escape Hybrid owners, with information concerning installation of the ever popular strut tower bar. While it may bolt on to most Escapes there are significant obstacles to installation on 2nd generation Hybrids that are not easily remedied.

Hi, friends,

We are discussing with the mechanic, may make a bend strut bar to avoid in proper friction with the a/c pipe.

I would be interested if it can be done.

I am preparing to finish my Escape with the tower brace. ARe they still available for $150/shipped?

I'm sure they are, but PM Kafai for details. Check his long running ad over in Swap 'n Shop for more details

Figured he would likely still sell them as they are VERY popular here. Unfortunately, mine will have to wait a little longer as I just found what I REALLY wanted for my truck, and got it brand new for $110!!!

Welp, the strut brace arrived today. Looking forward to installing it and hoping the results aren't all hype. Before installation however, I am going to repaint the metallic blue ends, to the dark metallic green my Escape is. :)P

Enjoy your X'mas gift.
