Hey all!
Still a noob around here but absolutely in love with my Escape, just got done taking it on a 1200 mile roadtrip and it ran like a dream! (First car never to have problems with the trip). I am noticing that when I try to open and close the sunroof, I have to hold the switch practically in the middle (it is a toggle type switch, where you have to hold it to close the sunroof). I am wondering how to remove the panel/switch so I can check to see if it is a loose connection or short or something. If anyone has a diagram or some advice on how to do this I would really appreciate it, as I'll get charged my first born at a garage or dealership!

Dont have the schematics and I am sure they are on the way, but why not take it back to the dealership and have them work on it under warranty.

I don't have a wiring diagram but I've replaced the switch a few times because of this problem. It is very easy to get at. At the end of the following thread are a few pics from the last time I replaced it:

There was a member here who said it was the contacts in the switch and there was something he applied that made it work fine. I'm not sure if it was just a cleaner or some sort of contact enhancer. If I can figure out what it was, I'll let you know...

Nevermind I read 2010 instead of 2002

Took a look at the thread, seems simple enough, I never use the garage door opener space (would rather have a storage space there), so didn't even think to look up there for screws! :lightning: I will take a look later today and see if it is a problem with the contacts, because if that's all it is that's a simple fix! :yahoo: Thanks again!

Took switch out, but unsure how to remove wire connections to see if there is a problem with them. I really think it's a connection problem, or a bad wire, because when I took the assembly apart the switch seemed to work better, however as soon as I put it all back together, I am having the same problem. By the way, do I have to go through a dealer to purchase a new switch?

We purchased a 2003 Escape that came with a bad sunroof switch (it practically had to be nuked to get it to close). I found an aftermarket replacement at Rock Auto.
