I recently picked up this kit to install SYNC on a 2011 Escape. However, I cannot find PDF installation instructions anywhere. Does anyone happen to have a copy, mainly for the wire splicing.

Also, once plugged in and with the hot wire jumpered to the battery, SYNC will find my phone, but my phone will not find SYNC. I didn't know if this is because the module needs programmed or?

Thank you!

The kit does require dealer programming in order to work. One way around this is to find a used APIM from a 2009-2012 escape and use that instead of the APIM included in the kit. This even allows the kit to work with an '08 escape.

Here are the kit instructions for a mustang (click the attachment at the bottom): 2009 Genuine Ford Accessory Catalog / SYNC News! - The Mustang Source - Ford Mustang Forums

The main thing is to connect the single wire to a power source that is on in run/accessory mode. The 4 big connectors plug in between the radio and the harnesses coming out of the dash. The microphone and HMI button connections are self explanatory. The last thing is the two wires that connect to the DLC connector so sync can talk to the HS CAN bus. This is required if you want to do dealer programming and optional if you get a preprogrammed module and don't want to use the vehicle health and 911 assist features.

Google the part # for installation instructions, configuration and programming.
I browsed, through and saw this:

Sync Module Configuration & Programming
NOTE: To complete the Sync kit installation
procedure, the Sync module MUST be configured
and programmed to the latest released software.
Also, the ACM MUST be configured properly.

I am unsure if this can be programmed by user with FORSCAN.

Awesome! I searched high and low for the PDF instructions without luck, but I had come across them a few months ago.

This all makes sense, I was just a little hesitant to splice wires without documentation. I just ordered a take-out SYNC module on ebay, and worst case I also have a 2009 Escape with factory SYNC that I can use parts to troubleshoot. I also have Forscan...

Thank you for the help!

I added sync to a 2010 escape. The wiring harness and the sync was pulled from a donor escape. It plugged right into the new escape. Pull the radio unplug the old harness (think like 6 plugs) and plug in the new one (7 plugs the extra plug went to the sync). It was all located behind the radio the harness is maybe a foot long. I don't have the mic or the sync button on the steering wheel. I got a 911 assist error message. I think that's cause of not having a mic which I am trying to add now.
