I am not as fluent as i used to be. If i can ever afford to travel overseas, i know enough of my grandmas native tongue to get by. My nanna originated from a large family of 12 somewhere in europe when it was known as prussia.
Her parents relocated to the region of ' Westfalen am Rheine'. My fluency of german was more skilled during the primary school days. Just thought i would submit this article because you reside in austria.
I speak english at home and at work. Some of my friends are austrian and we speak mostly english. They do not have that very unique and distinct ' Ich bin eine ostereicher' dialect. The austrian friends were born down under, but we randomly speak a bit of german to each other depending on what the circumstances are.
