Looking to fill the gap in the wheel well a little. Question is, will I notice any excessive rolling in turns or any negative effects on the ride quality?
I have a 255 55 R18, and I'm quite happy with the ride quality and everything else.
That would be a full 3.5" taller than the stock 225 75 R15.
Tacking on an extra 10mm of with and an extra 15mm of height will not be bad at all.
No worries, bro, I'd go for it, and wouldn't think twice.
I was mainly worried about it feeling like it's "wandering" on the road. The way I figured it, it is almost identical to the stock 16" tire's demensions excluding sidewall. If you were to stand the two next to each other, the measurements are almost identical. I'm just gonna go with it. Get a better tire than these Hankooks I'm running. They've been a nightmare to keep balanced. Plust I want a more aggressive looking tire without sacrificing it's roadway behaviour. Firestone Destination AT is what I'm after.
I used to run that size for my winter tires, and the large sidewall was barely noticeable. It did get a bit squirrelly under very heavy braking, but I don't think cornering was affected. Those tires were better at taking bumps in the road.
