The very first mod to my 2 week old 09 Escape was the trailer hitch. I wanted the factory hitch so that it would rest behind the bumper out of sight. I had a local car audio shop do the bumper cutting and I must say.... they did an amazing job. They used a picture I took for reference and made it look just like the factory install. I used the DrawTite harness with converter box and spliced that in to the factory Ford trailer plug. The DrawTite harness has a 12v lead that goes to the battery to power the trailer lights and running that under the truck was the most tedious part. I covered it with wire loom and zip-tied it all up tight. Everything works and it turned out to be a pretty clean install. I also added a 12v outlet to the rear cargo area since I had the 12v wire already running back there. I put the outlet on the right rear, just behind the panel access door.

Nice work on the trailer hitch. Did you / do you plan to - install a transmission fluid cooler and/or engine oil cooler as well? Or are you going with a relatively light-weight towing application so you feel these are not necessary?

Thanks.
