My 08 started hesitating at startup like the transmission was slipping. I got 59,000 miles on it. Thankfully I bought the ESP. I took it to the FORD dealership today and found out my transmission cooler was leaking. Thankfully, FORD already discovered this problem and has issue an extended warranty on the cooler. Tranny cooler being repaired and I don't even have to pay the deductable.

I dropped my 08 Escape off at the Ford dealer today for that same problem. Seems a recall has been issued, at least that is what the service guy told me. He said it was in his system and was just issued today. SO I expect anyone else with an 08 will get a letter soon enough.

I have limited access to Ford's system and it shows no recalls or new TSBs. I found a VIN for a '08 still under warranty and still showed nothing. Maybe the service has better info?

I am not sure but I can ask when he calls me today. I am just going by what he told me. I do know my warranty is covering the cost, I have and extended one through secure net.

My 08 has 59,000 miles. The service manager told me even if I did not have the ext. service plan, Ford would have paid for it to be fixed. I did not know anything about it, I was assuming I would have been using my ESP. Took them overnight to get the part and fix the proble, Runs great again.

Ford will fix this problem at no cost to you. I have a 2008 Ford Escape and my transmission cooler is leaking, causing my transmission to slip. I took my car into Park Cities Ford this morning and they printed out a TSP (Customer Satisfaction Program 09B10) dated March 2010. The form states that the "Transmission Fluid cooler in your vehicle may develop a crack and leak transmission fluid. If not repaired, this leak may result in rough/harsh shifting and potential damage to the transmission." "Ford Motor Company has authorized your dealer to perform the repairs under this program on your vehicle free of charge (parts and labor). The Customer Satisfaction Program will be in effect until August 31, 2010 regardless of mileage. Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners." If you have previously had this repair done, you may be eligible for a refund. To initiate a refund request, they ask that you give your paid original receipt to your dealer before August 31, 2010.

I got the letter as well and decided to take a peek and see if it was leaking, sure enough there was a small amount of fluid. I'm going to call tomorrow and set up my appointment.

Had the recall done a couple of days ago along with an oil change to use up some of my owner advantage points. They called 2 hours after I dropped it off to say it was done.

A nice side benefit is the A/C is freshly recharged now as the trans cooler and A/C condenser are 1 unit.

I forgot what it was but if your trans cooler was broken they would replace it and if it wasnt then they would put a bracket on it preventing it from breaking??? Yeah I remember that.
