Sorry for my first post being about a problem...
We recently bought a used 2018 Titanium Escape with about 40K miles on it. I've been looking at Escapes for a long time and am pretty happy with the car.
Occasionally, but not often, when driving it I will see the engine rev up high while attempting to accelerate. (In other words, the rpms increase faster than my acceleration.) I will hear a hum of increasing pitch and then suddenly the rpms will drop back down to normal and the "4WD Temporarily Disabled" message will pop up on the info area on the dashboard between the tach and speedometer along with an "i" in an orange square. After driving for a while the orange 'i" will disappear.
If I had to guess, it feels like some part of the 4WD transmission to the rear wheels is slipping and the response of the car is to shut off power to the rear wheels.
I know I need to go have this looked at but I am curious where on the "this is a minor issue" and "your power train is screwed and this is a major repair" scale this is.
Thanks for the feedback.
