I am in need of the passenger door trim that goes around the handle. The perforated vinyl is missing (I'm guessing it isn't leather) Interior trim code is MH

A few questions: Can this piece be removed seperately or do I need the entire door panel? How do I remove it (I haven't looked at it that carefully) The vehicle is a 2001 Escape. This is my parent's vehicle and I'm not too familiar with them.

Here are a few photos for reference:

you could relace it when the door is on, just remove the screw behind the interior door handle and pull that black plastic peice away. would be eassyer to pull the door off tho, its a simple few screws and the rest is clips very easy.

you can get a piece of vinyl and some spray adhesive and glue a new vinyl in, tuck the edges in with a flat screw driver. ive done it before on these doors.

The problem is the material there is almost like bad foam that is crumbling away and there seems to be a void behind the foam in the center that you can press the deteriorating material into. Can I sand it down to something solid and then recover it?

I think it's just the covering that can be removed, but the panel itself is attached to the entire door trim if I'm correctly picturing the last time I had the door apart.

You might want to post in Interior Mods to see if someone can tell you how much is involved in re-covering that panel if the foam is crumbling.
