I have an Explorer that I bought used for the STBX. Broken tranny. Probably happened because the tranny fluid line rusted out and leaked and new fluid in an old tranny doesn't always mix. I also have a Windstar in my driveway with a broken rear axle. One morning it felt funny driving my son to school, pulled over, looked, couldn't see anything, felt funny coming back, acted really weird on a turn, pulled into my driveway, made 2 kerplunks and one BIG kerplunk as the rear end dropped. It was raining and I didn't want to get filthy so I figured I'd google to see if my hunch on the broken rear axle was right.
I typed in broken rear a .... that is as far as I got when google filled in "windstar broken rear axle". I was ticked. I called Ford to see if there was any recourse and they gave me an x-plan number for some money off.
So I started my search for a vehicle with Ford, albeit reluctantly. I came across the escape because I liked the amount of room and the MPG. The more I looked into it was was shocked to see the favorable reviews, the repeat buyers and the reliability ratings.
But here the topper. When I came here and found out that the Escape is called Maverick elsewhere I wondered if I was destined to buy one of these.
My first car was a Ford Maverick from the early 70's that I inherited from my Nana. It died a premature death from someone making an illegal turn in front of me even though it I was driviing it late 80's early 90's.
So I think Karma is saying I'm supposed to own one of these.
