My 2008 Escape came with a steel wheels. When I replaced them with used OEM alloy wheels I bought at a Craigslist's seller it sure is lighter than the steel wheels it came with. What a big difference !

I apologize if this seems rude, I am not trying to be.
I am really curious, why do you want to know what the wheels gross weight is?
not all 16 inch wheels are the same. I don't know anybody in the automotive industry that goes around weighing random rims.

I bought a set of used 16 inch, with the correct bolt pattern, and they were not even close to fitting. this was regarding the inner diameter, and clearance of the calipers.

you can figure this quandary out with math, and research.

First:
search your exact tire brand/model/size… You can figure out exactly what this tire weighs by looking at the specs, or by adding one to your shipping cart and going through all the processes… It will tell you what the shipping weight is.

Second:
search your year make and model replacement rim on eBay, and see what the shipping weight is. Subtract and you have your answer.

A question like this seems to be wasting good friends time, why can't you do a little homework for yourself?

Next time you get the tires changed, fixed, etc, have the tire shop weigh it without the tire. You may also be able to find out by looking up the part and seeing if there are specs.
You're right Thunder, but you would also have to remove the wheel weights, the TPMS, Center cap, any gunk left over on the bead surface from years of mounting, and the valve stem for accurate weighing. After years of use, with curb divots, and other imperfections that happened to rims during manufacture, no two used rims weigh the same
Ever
(extremely rare for a set of mounted tires to all take the same weight for balance-
true- I have never attempted to balance a set of rims before mounting tires) some tires and wheels need no balance weight.(I would be inclined to believe there are more tire weight discrepancies, than rim weight discrepancies… But I'm sure they still both exist)

I apologize, I evidently have not been away from the shop long enough… lol
my patience is still very thin for people who can't be bothered To find out which way the light switch is on...
I think I am just going to begin to reference Google as the magic eight ball…

Ask the magic eight ball.
lol

My apologies

Ha funny you mention asking on ebay. I did exactly that yesterday and got a response of about 25lbs. Lightweight 16x7s are ~14lbs, so that is quite a difference. I am well aware that any amount of money I spend on wheels will likely never be recouped in fuel savings, but I'm an engineer and can't help myself in trying to mess with cars making 'improvements'. Previous vehicles were turbochaged and could be modified for power, but that is not really an option with a Mariner Hybrid. Tweaks on this are going to have to be towards efficiency and comfort.

I have a set of wheels for my previous vehicle that I was joking about putting on the Mariner, but then I found that they are actually just about perfect specs. Will a Mariner look silly on R32 Skyline GTS-T wheels?

If they sell those rims on tire rack, you can look at your vehicle with them on it there.

I know this is an older thread but figured Id put up a real world answer from my personal experience. Someone may be interested in future. Factory 2008 5 spokes (uncleaned and with wheel weights still attached/forgot to remove them before weighing) weighed in at 27.3lbs to 27.5lbs for each one. Very heavy for an aluminum wheel in my opinion.
JFYI

Awesome thanks. I figured they would be up in that range. Combine that with my silly heavy 36lb Bridgestone tires I'm at ~63lbs per corner. Good for coasting I guess, but not accelerating. It will be interesting to see the difference if I get that weight down to 45-50lbs
