Has anyone mounted the Westin Safari Bar to their rides? If so was it a direct mount with no modifications or did you have to cut into the front air dam for installation. I've been looking for one of these for my 06 Escape and I see various manufacturers offer similar products all with different mods needed for install but would really like Westins as long as I dont have to cut into plastic for mounting.

I mounted a safari light bar on my '03. It's 2 bolts that attach to the front tow hooks (recovery hooks). Took about 5 minutes, no mods.

got the westin black safari bar for my 05. fit perfectly with the mounting hardware that you buy with it. only regret is i wish i got the chrome as the black one has already rusted a bit after one winter.

I actually have one on my 03 and just recently had to get it powder coated since it was rust as can be. Then again i dont know how well the chrome would have held up either.

I was just looking at one of these for my 06. Did anyone have to remount their front license plate or can you still see it without the bar blocking too much? Thanks.

yeah the bar went right in the middle of the plate on my 05.

so i unscrewed the plate holder and moved it down (fits snug up against bar) and used the same existing two holes now its just held on with 2 screws instead of the 3 or 4 it had.

Thanks Breensy. Great pic. One other question on that note. Did you patch the holes from the top two screws or are those "hiding" behind the top of the bar? Thanks.

Didnt end up patching the holes, from what i remember the westin bar covers them but i will double check after work

It's installed, and the lights I ordered were just installed as well. I'll snap some pics soon and post. Let me say that this was a nasty install. The fact that all the real work mounting the brackets up in the lower valence, blind, was a trip. Got 'er done, and she looks nice. Stay tuned.

Yes, the grill looks balanced out, with nudge bar and large diameter spotlights.
But my favourite is your , " WESTIN " stainless steel skidplate.

I just love that, stainless steel skidplate accessory.
Obviously it is functional, but also looks elegant.
Like a nice piece of jewellry, as in that final touch. :thumb:

Thanx for the comments. i just christened it the other day with a small wall/curb pulling into a restaurant. Oh well, had to happen eventually. No real damage, minor scrape on the underside.
