i'm out of money and ideas.... i had replaced the engine about 30k miles ago cost 5k for the rebuilt long block. i replaced the trans a month ago it only has 40 miles on it that was 2300 with a radiator that leaked into it. i had a lot of electrical problems in wiring from the replaced engine i guess that will be 500 when i pay for it. now the computer crapped out and is giving bad codes and is sabotaging my trans and engine. the dealer quoted 800 a shop quoted me 700. i am totally out of money swimming in debt from this car what do i do? do i take her out back and finish the job or do i fix it and hope nothing else goes wrong.

this is a tough call on what to do. you have to keep the engine and tranny no matter what. if the interior and exterior are still in good shape then i guess you have to spend the last $700-$800 and hope and pray that its finally fixed. there is no way that you can sell it and recoup your money. really what else could go wrong now? you have a new drivetrain, wiring and soon computer...other than the suspension im not sure that there is much more to replace... brakes, tires and exhaust really dont count since those are things that normally get replaced in time.

Instead of a new PCM for $700-$800, see if your mechanic can procure a used one from a salvage yard.
I had to have one replaced in my Taurus, was quoted $350 for a new one. They found a matching one at a salvage yard for $150, then another $100 for install and diagnostics, and the car ran good again.
Good Luck!
