Well I just got back from my 11 year olds little league game. Playoffs. After a few innings it was clear something was going wrong for our team. Then I find out the umpire is the father of the catcher on the other team. By the 6th inning (near the end of the game) our coach goes over and finds out from the score keeper the other team is not playing all their players either as they should in a regular rotation per the rules. Only playing the good players I assume.

So... What is wrong with youth sports today. Is there no honor, no sportmanship? :wall:

Needless to say we lost even though the boys kept it to within 6 points.

Just had to vent :cuss:

The lessons these kids are learning from these adults, are not good. :( I would be upset also !!

I have a ten year old nephew who plays little league. I have not seen anything like that going on here and can only hope that I never do.

One of my friends has two sons, and both play hockey. When his wife was watching them play one of their games last winter, the woman next to her asked her if those were her sons, and she said that they were.

The woman told her that they really don't skate all that well and that she should sign them up for skating lessons, because they're making the team look bad.

I'm glad that woman knows how to keep her opinions to herself.

Now that would have ticked me off !!! I would of probably given her a piece of my mind. When somebody messes with my kids, I get very defensive. I would have chosen my words very carefully though, so as not to stoop to her level. :)

 Great memories, My son who really dose have athletic abilities (coordination or whatever) was always stuck in right field and always wanted 3rd, short-stop and/or 2nd base. My wife who already warned me (she's older than I) to keep my mouth shut when I went to games. Tip, "Good Advice" some of those mom's & pops took this soooo seriously, I couldn't believe it.. Well, I found out that the Shortstop's dad was a lawyer and gave the coach some free services and the 2nd bases mother even offered sex!!!! "True story" Anyway, he was selected to the All-Star team. For some reason or another, the All-Star coach put him at short-stop. He made a awesome play and his regular coach was there. He went ballistic for his (good) performance.
After the game, which they lost. I, couldn't hold it back any longer! I, (tried to be calm) but let that coach have it verbily. :hyst: My wife,(Mrs PK) keep trying to clam me down. But I was right!! But basically, I embarrassed my son and he told me so. I've never embarrassed my kids since then and that's been close to 30yrs. But, little league is a joke!!! It's as true as 45 years ago as it is today. It's not how good you are, it's who you know. Don't think, there aren't good fare coach's out there, their are. But they are, far & few in between. I'm done ranting............ PK

I would have told that women that only "lessons" that anyone needed was in manners and parenting skills.

...which would have, I'm sure, been followed by a nasty, self-righteous reply of some kind.
