Hi, Newbie here. I am looking at getting a mariner/escape. Not sure which yet. I noticed on a lot of the models I am looking at that there is an area above the temp controls that is only about the size of a deck of cards. What is that space used for? Ipod holder?

Thanks
Jen

Are you referring to the 01-07 Escapes? If so, then that hole is indeed just more storage space (which is certainly not a bad thing). I've seen some (maybe later versions) with more buttons there instead of the cubby hole, so maybe the hole is there since Ford ran out of buttons to put there.

I don't think it's designed for anything specific so you can put whatever fits in there. I've used it to hold an FM transmitter, gum packs and an ipod...

it's a garage door remote holder with a movable finger to position it over the remote's button. There should be a depression where you press the cover to activate the garage door remote..
