Teaser: here are the temp and speedometer gauge boards at 1/4 brightness. They fit perfectly inside the gauge cavities and replace the six incandescent bulbs. The LEDs run at around 8mA each in the fuel and temp gauges, and at around 9.5mA each in the speedometer and tach gauges. They'll outlast the car, the gauges are about five times as bright as the factory gauges, and the total current draw for all 26 LEDs is less than only one of the six factory bulbs.
And there's no more need for a gradient pattern behind the gauge faces---just a diffused white coating, or any color. You can even remove them and reinstall the bulbs if you sell the car.
