I wired up a set of heated (aftermarket) seat heaters. They are great, But......... I thought I had found the wire from the fuse box in the center console marked heated seat. I was thinking that would be switched thru the ignition so it would be off when the car is off. They are not!!!!!!!!!!!! My wife left the seat on all afternoon and night. Today she called and said the car was dead. I need to find a 12v line to tap into that is switched when the car is off.

I'll look up wiring diagrams sometime this weekend for the 2008 models, and for the 2009+ models (which are different from the 2008 models in many ways). For high-current accessories like this, it's not a good idea to simply tap into whatever circuit seems to work, since you could melt wiring and/or overload the circuit.

I won't be able to get the diagrams until tomorrow at the earliest.

Okay so here is what I did on my 04 Escape, but it may be different for your new Escape. The heated seat circuit in my Escape had power. So all I did was use a add a circuit to pull power off that which was perfect for my install. I know that your escape has power to that circuit at all times. If you cant find a empty fuse with power to pull from you could just run a lead from the ignition wire (can be found under the dash or near stereo head unit) to the trigger on a relay. Then pull your power supply off the battery. So when you have power at the ignition you'll get power at the heated seats. :thumb:

Jpark, Please let me know when you look at the wiring diagram. I tapped off the plug under each seat. Let me know what color the line from the heated seat fuse should be................ I might have got the wrong line. The seats work great and will roast you, If you like slow cooked people it would be great :fan:

Thanks

Do you have the electrical specs on the seat heaters, and do they have an automatic shutoff circuit? If there's no timer and/or automatic shutoff, I wouldn't use them at all.

I looked up some diagrams this morning, but I don't want to put anything here until I know the specs of those heaters first. I'm just trying to protect you!

Thanks!
