i must admit i'm not too hot on these ratings but i'm sure in read somewhere that these boxes won't work with the UK engine/maps etc. dunno where/why
You have to get the PCM code, then Superchips can tune your car.

When I first got my Maverick, I asked Torrie at fastpartsnetwork if he could do a tune for it. He contacted Superchips, and they said NO!

But. I've since asked him again, and this time he said YES! :yahoo:

Only issue I have is how to divert money away from our home, and into an XCAL. I'm gutted I couldn't act on this sooner, before the pound started falling against the dollar. :wall:

*BTW. To get your PCM code, you have to open the bonnet. Right at the back against the firewall, you'll see a large cable runs into/behind a black metal box-type-thing.
This box-type-thing has 4 silver 'studs' in it. These are shear bolts. You have to use a hacksaw or similar to cut a slot in the top of each of these shear bolts. Then you'll be able to get a screwdriver in there to undo the shear bolts. Hey presto! The metal box-type-thing can know be removed and you'll see the PCM code on top of the wiring connector. Mine is JTM2. You can then re-fit the box-type-thing with the newly 'screw-ified' shear bolts. :thumb:

interesting Chris - so could i buy this box of tricks and get it reprogrammed? i'd be a bit weary of a generic tune if it couldnt be developed on an identical car previously?!

lilshimy - not meaning to hijack, just finding out some details :)

Yeah. You'd have to send it back to Torrie, he could then re-program it to your PCM code, and you'd be set. May be worth finding out the full cost of purchase, reprogramming and shipping to the U.K. I'd love to jump on this but having recently moved, the house is absorbing all my income. Disposable and otherwise!!

I personally wouldn't try an XCAL with a different PCM code. At best it might just not work, at worst it may play havoc with your car's computer.

Only 1 month on!!!
Take a seat, as it took me 4 months before my account was activated, but get ready for the sarcastic, and sometimes downright nasty comments that seem to come from a few of their members...
The good guys all came here, oh, and Big Chris just tagged along  ;) ;)

I can picture it now..........

V6 Maverick, x-cal, big bore exhaust, lowered suspension, wide wheels/tyres, uprated stereo pumping out industrial type noise, and a Burberry pinstripe

Oh, and a green windscreen sunstrip, with Wayne & Shazza written on it ;)

 its the Essex thing right?! lol

Actually I always used to upgrade my stereos, and fit bigger wheels and as it happens my ST has had eibach springs and an xcal type reflash lol. That said I thought I had outgrown the stereo thing but I'm not to impressed with the Mavs standard jobbie so I think it is on the cards!!! - you can't escape your roots lol

Anyway.... you're the one bidding for the stick on cosmetic bits on ebay lol
