Toyota Recalls Tacomas for a Defect in Drive Shaft

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid= ... 6zuRRiSCs8

Feb. 13 (Bloomberg) -- Toyota Motor Corp. said it's recalling a "limited number" of Tacoma pickups because of cracks in the drive-shaft components.

The defect was recently caught during the manufacturing process before any reports of problems, said John Hanson, a spokesman for the Japanese automaker's U.S. sales unit in Torrance, California. The parts supplier, Dana Holding Corp., said the defect involves about 34,000 tube yokes that were also sold to Ford Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co.

I don't think you or I have anything to worry about stone. This was a recent manufacturing issue. Your Escape was made well before these faulty shafts manufactured.

Ford's "rigorous testing and review concluded there are no safety and performance issues" for the Escape, its vehicle with the drive-shaft part, Said Deep, a spokesman for Dearborn, Michigan-based Ford, said in an e-mailed statement.
I find it interesting that there are identical parts on an Escape and a Tacoma, considering how the Toyota is a traditional pickup, with rear wheel drive standard and 4wd optional..... Maybe the Escape and Tacoma drivetrains are reversed lol
