Serious charges may be involved, so I shouldn't comment much for now. :bag:

If the charges are successful, and I'm hoping I get to testify, the other guy will end up in what we call "Facility Insurance," which is our pool of high-risk drivers and premiums are around $10,000/year minimum.

 Yikes !

Without knowing the whole story, I am sure that is what he deserves if you say so, Squishy.
Good luck with this! And again, hate this happened.

He messed with The Squish, he deserves it.

It was a hit-and-run on a major highway. The insurance companies treat "failing to remain" as a serious conviction with four risk points, which almost always cancels his current policy and bumps him to Facility - especially since he looked early- or mid-20s.

Lets hope that he learns his lesson. Although with premiums like that he sure should !!!

I am glad that you were not hurt !!! :)

Thanks, I'm not hurt. It was just a small bump, and the Escort has sure had its share. I'm going to offer to do some of the work myself, since the front bumper was already all scraped up, instead of having the insurance company eat the entire cost (they've been good to me so far). I'll have to see what the body shop says, though - they might insist on doing the whole job.

Nice of you to offer to help with the job. Hopefully, at the very least, they will let you supervise to ensure that it is done correctly. :)

I'm using the insurance company's shop so everything will come with a lifetime warranty, and these small-town shops don't often try to cheat you. They're within walking distance of my house so I can complain eeeeeevery day if I have to.

He thought your car was part of an amusement park ride..."Bumper Cars"? :peace:

I hope you get your little Escort fixed properly. :thumb: We had an 1998 SE Sport  . It was beaten and side swiped, run over curbs, you name it. Everything but totalled. :cuss: Traded the little bug for the Tribute. :thumb:

Best of luck with the repairs Squishy. I stress out with paper work forms, that the insurance firms require. Takes me ages to complete. Then the insurance man does a valuation on damage. Getting a loan car and whatever. Yes, it is quite a headache.

Speaking of a Hit and Run. The other morning a little after 1 AM a 21 year old woman had gotten mad at someone at a party and decieded to go for a walk to cool off. Fox Farm Road is a bad place to walk in the day light let alone at night. There are no shoulders and no street lights. As she walked toward town a car going out of town HIT HER. She was Beheaded and Bled Out. That car took off how ever a second car came along and also hit her. He got out to see what he hit and called 911. There will be no charges filed against him. Yesterday the hit and run driver turned himself in. He is a Reserve Deputy Sheriff and Fire Chief for a Rural Fire Dept. His life now SUCKS BIG TIME. :shades:

So got my estimate today: $701. That's just blending in the paint, which doesn't involve the existing damage, so no need for me to "pitch in". I might negotiate a mixture of labour and monetary gifts to the shop so that they fix and repaint the entire bumper.

Still can't reach the investigating officer, though. All I can get is voicemail, and that's not how Squishy rolls.
