Removing side dash air vents?

I want to turn all chrome pieces in my 2010 interior to black.

So far i have done the shifter bezel and the chrome strip on the shifter by "wrapping" with 3M vinyl. Looks a lot better now.

Next I want to tackle are the driver and pass. side air vent bezels. Ugh they are horrible when sun reflects on them.
It's hard to do just the surrounds/bezels while they're still on the car, so i guess i have to remove the vent assembly from the dash...
What is the best procedure to remove them? Can one just pull? Are they held by anything like screws?

They will just pop out. No screws in them. The outer edge is a separate piece that can be removed after you take them out. Use a blade or small flat removing tool. Bottom pops out easy with little effort.

i just want to wrap that outer edge in black, just like i did with the shifter surround bezel. They glare horribly with the right angle of sun on them.
