Center caps for winter wheels '11 Escape

Postby legacy_clutter - November 7th, 2011, 4:35 pm

I have been looking around the internet for ideas for center caps for the OEM winter wheels on my ’11 Escape. The OEM wheels do not have a lip that would allow me to snap on generic hub caps, which would be just wrong anyway, so a center cap that would snap on to the hub would be ideal.

I really like the looks of the chrome center cap that can be found on the Crown Victoria police cruisers.

From what I have found out, the bolt pattern of the Escape and the Crown Vic. are the same.

2011 Ford Escape 5 lug 4.5 inch or 114.3mm High Positive Offset
2009 Ford Crown Victoria 5 lug 4.5 inch 114.3 High Positive Offset

I know the center cap for the Crown Vic. needs 3 lugs per wheel that have a lip so the cap can clip onto.

Has anyone looked into this? Am I missing a detail that would make this not work?

This forum post has images of the Escape OEM winter wheels: https://www.escape-city.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=7535&hilit=winter

Thanks!

A warm welcome to you legacy_clutter :thumb: :welcome:

I have the same idea long time ago, A Crown Vic center caps does not fit into the OEM Ford black steele wheel.
My father got those and nothing fits for that kind of wheel
Try the dealer, i know they got some plastic center caps for those

Thanks for the information. I will go see what the dealer has as options. From what I have seen so far they are not very exciting.

Early Escape 15" wheels also had a centre cap designed to work with the alloy wheels. I keep those on during the winter and they look pretty nice. It's not a chrome finish, more of a metallic grey.

You do need the special lug nuts with a ridge for the cap to clip onto.
The goggles, they do nothing!

Would you happen to have the part number for center caps you are using?

Thanks for the images.

I think I am going to try and use this cap Ford # YL84-1A096-AB, YL84-1A096-AA they are for the pre '07 Escape model but I do not see why they would not be compatible. They look like they are meant for the same wheel I am using that is painted silver instead of black.
