I live in San Francisco, but I actually found my Escape at Putnam in Burlingame

Wonder how the dip will hold up over the chrome.Did u sand down the chrome? One guy dipped his chrome bullbar and he sanded the chrome down so dip wouls stick better.

That's a good point, you know Dip is rated to actually last quite some time but we shall see. The only prep I did on the letters was cleaning them with alcohol. They are a fairly thin "plastic" with what I think is simply a chrome coating so sanding wouldn't have probably not gone well.

I have been in Tahoe the last 3 days in sub-zero temps though so the grill and letters are definitely getting a work out. So far they are doing well, even after sitting outside all night in sub-15* temps. I can post some pics when I get back into the city and clean her up for all to see:)

i think the point of using dip, at least on a grill, is that you don't have to bother sanding and ruining the chrome grill incase you wish to go back to that look.

the dip adheres to itself, which is why I decided to spray completely around my grill and make sure the dip wrapped around every crevice. It has held up well going on 4 months now in northern NJ weather

Looks good Just got back from 5 days in Tahoe where it sank to 1 to 5*F (-15 to -17*C) 2 of the nights with my lady outside. While I broke the lock on my frozen set of ski mounts the Dip lasted just fine on the grill and lettering Came home and washed it all with a power washer and all is well.

I did get a ding on my damn hood though from the driving.....time for a bug deflector I guess :\

It will eventually get to -30oC here.

The only thing I'm worried about is gravel and rocks on the road. We usually get a lot of gravel and salt put down here. I put about 7 coats on so I think rock's will be ok, not sure about salt. I bought a deflector because of rocks shooting up at the windshield. I already have 2 cracks.

I am preparing to Plasti-Dip my rims on New Years Day =) I haven't decided on how I want them to look so I was looking for some opinions.
What do you guys think looks best out of the 6 I have made here are any combination of them?? Outside of the leaving the nuts/emblem grey the rest would involve masking and remasking after each coat of paint. Or if you have suggestions of other ways they can be painted please do let me know!
