Experience with removing plastic lip?

On my 2011 ford escape there is an unsightly plastic lip under the front bumper of the vehicle - does anyone know how to remove this so I can install bull bars onto the chassis?

I was considering removing mine for more clearance.
I've looked under there once or twice, and it doesn't look hard to remove.

When I installed my bullbar, the instructions for it walked me through how to remove it. I don’t remember quite how I had to do it. But if you crawl under and look around if I remember right, it’s just a few screws you take out and it should pop out semi-easily

On a Limited (or a SAP), where the chrome middle bumper moulding/trim section is a separate piece, will removing the lip somehow affect the rigidity/stability of the lower bumper? Because to me it looks like the screws for the lip also go through that chrome trim piece (in workshop manual diagrams), but I am not 100% sure.
