Help with pricing a Dent....Nothing is easy!

I found a nice 2014 Escape Tiranium with only 40k miles on it for my wife. We looked at it last night and settled on a price this morning. We were going to pick it up in the morning. The seller is selling it because he is moving out of the country in 2 weeks.

this evening He texted me saying he backed into a limb causing a dent on the tail gate between the Ford Emblem and the glass. No issues with glass or tailgate. He has offered to pay for it and I don’t mind reducing the price and getting someone to do it. I just don’t know what is a reasonable amount for both parties. Any suggestions??

I would ask the seller to provide an estimate from a reputable local body shop.
Every shop in your area will give a free estimate.
Deduct the estimate from the sale price.

You could also search the internet (E-bay, salvage yards) for a replacement tailgate.
You may get lucky and find a matching color gate.
Either way, you'll find out what it'll cost you.
