Part number for trim below steering wheel above hood release

Postby mattadams - April 30th, 2017, 9:16 pm

When the mechanic at ford dealershipw as working on my steering wheel, I discovered he broke a clip... but it's kind of hard to prove they broke it, and I'm sure I know what they'll say if I ask them. It's not critical btu I'll be looking for this part...
I do have a part number, but can't seem to find it anywhere online.
It is for a 2010 Escape with black interior.
I did find the following part information stamped on it, but none of hte numbers seem to turn up much when I google...

Just as some additional details... I've looked at a few parts sites, and the closest I can seem to find is that it "might" be part # 04459 in the following diagram... but the only description I can find is Instrument Panel Cover, and can't seem to find any better picture to verify if that's actually what it is.

It's at a stupid angle. I tooks like a thin trim strip. Sadly, no clips are listed. You could call a Ford dealership and ask if "they" can get the clips.
You have a definite part name and a partial part number.

I have the clips... but the part that actually clips in, the part thats attached to the trim panel, is the part that broke off... wouldn't be a big deal, but it's squeaking occasionally where it's broken off, so trying to correct.

Oddly enough, it isn't shown in that photo. In fact that looks like the broken one I have. The piece that clips in is actually the one you circled in the original photo, but in that photo, it appears the clip is broken off there as well.
Down below your #3, on the edge of the piece, is where it would've clipped into that piece you'd circled in the original photo. It appeared there was a tab there (similar to the clip #1) that would've gone into that clip. The clip is there, and theres a broken off piece of plastic in it where it would've connected to the trim piece.
