It has everything I want and I like the mods I've done, plus because it's getting a little long in the tooth I'm not afraid to experiment with new mods. Anyway, since I'm happy with what I've got and there certainly is no shortage of used Escapes with exactly the options I want, I feel there's no pressure to rush into anything.

This is a great new feeling having a car I'm perfectly happy with after so many years of ownership  I think I'll just live with it for awhile
I think that was the thing that kind of hit me because the sales manager, the guy I know, said to me he's like you put a lot of stuff into your Escape. And like you said, I can feel a little bit better knowing if I want to drive over a curb or something, I can and I feel like I would probably baby the new one a little bit too much since it would be a lease. And I can add things to mine to suit me. Rust issues aside. I had a guy offer to do both sides cut out the rest and whatever and repaint etc for around 500 bucks. He does good work and he's done a few escapes already. I don't know if mine's too far gone though. We shall see.

500 is an estimate. I talked to him last year and he said he could probably do both sides for 300. But it's a side business for him. So I'm assuming 500 is probably going to be around what it is. This is his link, you guys can take us scroll through and see some of the escapes he did. Can probably pick out better than I can what his process is.

So I met with him, $275 per side and $250 for under the hatch.

Basically he said what he does is cut the first panel or whatever's rusted, clean it up and fill it with fiberglass, creating a new lip behind or something to stop water from sitting. Recommended oil spray twice a year after. Same with the hatch, there's a lip of metal. He'll clean it up, fill it...he's done quite a few so far.. No issues.

Better than $4500 at the dealer..

I can't imagine having a car that is only 6 years old and being worn out or rusted through. I just bought a 2012 Fusion as my possible last car or at least one that I will drive for the next 10-15 years. It did live in Colorado at one point but it is pretty clean underneath.

In Canada we can order the 2.0 in SE trim :)

You are correct Bangster, the 2.0L is an option on the 2018 SEL not SE trim in Canada, forgot the L on my original post :)

Very cool, I didn't go another step and check that, and I will confess I am like most 'Mericans, and don't think outside my border, even though I live so close to the Mexico border I see as many Mexico license plates as US plates.

I didn't mean to be annoying and make it sound like I didn't believe you, Ford Ca doesn't share their brochures and only allow the dealers to do it, and I try to reference real details that I can look at.
