Always wanted one with the 2.3 and found on Edwards AFB.
Hit the road at 3am of Friday and made it back to Abilene at 4am on Sunday.

Next mods FMIC, Pimp ECU, bigger turbo, fuel update looking for 400hp

Cool car. I lusted over a supercharged MN12 Cougar (the next generation, 89-90) over the TC, because I had ridden in both, but like that year TC.

Already converted over to 5 bolt wheel pattern, and those wheels look good with the design and color on that color car.

I don't know what a Pimp ECU is, it used to be either Stinger stand alone, or Moates Quarterhorse. For 400 hp gonna take a bit but doable. Most people shot for 300 with bigger injectors, turbo, and programming.

I remember these cars well. The T-bird Turbo Coupe was the coolest looking car in its day. That front end-too cool! I got to drive a few of them because I was a 20 year old kid doing 'new car prep' at Ford while saving for college. I also remember Bill Elliot winning all the NASCAR large tracks by huge margins because the car was so aerodynamic. He was winning races by like 7 laps and NASCAR had to change the rules because watching someone win by that large a margin was considered 'boring'. I don't even follow NASCAR but that is how big an impact this car made - even non-fans knew about it dominance.

These cars (along with the run of the mill T-bird) seemed to disappear off the streets rather quickly. Surprising, since the regular T-bird sold quite well. The Turbo Coupe was up against a much cheaper and faster Mustang 5.0 so they were not selling in large numbers. I had not seen one of these in years - and I go to a lot of car shows. The final All Ford Show at Silver Springs, FL had one. First one I had seen at this huge Ford show the 5 times I attended over the course of 10 years. The one that was there was in horrible shape. I guess a few people kept them for the long haul. Looks like at least one person did.

You should post some pics of the interior. I remember the interior being so 80's high tech?

Certainly looks like it has that porno red interior! I think they have analog gauges but the center stack can have some funky techie stuff. The non TC and Cougar had a digidash.
