2013 Escape Recall - 1.6L EcoBoost Equipped Vehicles Only

Well my Silver Escape has been at the dealer since December 26, failed the pressure test. Parts are on backorder until at least the week of January 15

For the inconvenience Ford are offering me 2yr/40000Km Premium Prepaid Maintenance pland for both my Escapes. What do you think? Should I ask for more?

Update Ford dealer called me Friday morning told me my Silver Escape was now fixed, I picked it up at Noon drove less than 35km during the afternoon and check engine light came on. Talked to dealer they said bring in today and they would look at it right away. I had to work today so my wife took it in. They spent over 2 hours on it and finally said "something to do with the cooling system" will need to keep until at least Tuesday. My wife now has a Fusion loaner car.

I am working hard with dealer and Ford to take back both Escapes for price paid and would buy 2.0 models. This I hope will give me more ammo.

Update: Ford saying the $2500 Trade in help expired January 3 and to add insult to injury my $30000+ less than 2 months old cars are worth just $17000 each on trade

Supposedly will get back my Silver one back tomorrow after they replace the solenoid that controls the turbo wastegate.

Will try talking to Ford direct and failing that may go to binding arbitration!

How many times has your Escape been in for recall repair? Depending on your state, you might be close to exercising the lemon law.

Ford dealer quoted trade value...I told them they were crazy. No lemon law in Alberta, Canada but there is binding arbitration that would not cost me naything. WIll look further into that.

Dealership's always going to low ball you. The margins on used vehicles are significantly higher than margins on new vehicles.


Do a KBB analysis and then we'll see what's what.

True trade value should be between $25000-$28500

Interesting. I have the 2.0L and MFT 3.5.1 and mine does not do that... My light comes on at about 40 miles...

After the recall I noticed that the yellow warning light comes on at 30 miles till empty which is better than the previous 60 miles. What is cool is that when the yellow light comes on, the NAV screen displays all the gas stations in the area. After the fill up, they go away. Too cool.

My 1.6L came on at 30 miles over the weekend.

Update: Was supposed to pick up my Escape today (now 3 weeks in the shop) only to be told they have found more issues with the solenoids related to the wastegate controller. Apparantly the part is on back order in North America, expect at least 2 weeks for it. Any Canadian members with suggestions. I have a call into Ford and want to try to push for a buy back of the vehicle.

Has anyone with these issues tried contacting Ford regarding a buyback? Just got my paperwork today and am being offered a replacement or refund.

Just waiting for next level of Ford customer service to contact me. Any chance you could post the paper from Ford with their offer? Could help many of us as they wouldn't be able to say they aren't offering refunds or replacements. For the record I just want the same vehicle except for upgrading to the 2.0 engine
